On January 4, 1997, the
"Conway Twitty International Fan Club" was
established in memory of Conway, for his fans worldwide.
The
C.T. Fan Club is
headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, where D. R. Roberts
worked on a promotional idea to gain national attention
for Conway's Re-nomination for the Country Music Hall of
Fame after seeing the legend passed over for induction
at the Country Music Awards Show in 1996.
In April 1998, at "Country
Thunder USA", in Queen Creek, Arizona, D. R.
Premiered the C.T. Fan Club presence with the
introduction of the 'voting ballot'; VOTE! Conway Twitty
into the Country Music Hall of Fame. The response
was tremendous.
In June 1998, in the Music
City News Magazine, the C. T. Fan Club was
premeiered nationally to country music fans.
During July through December of 1998 the Fan Club was in
the MCN Market Place with the slogan ad, "Vote For
Conway". Now fans could get information on
the Fan Club and attain the popular voting ballot for
Conway. This made fans aware, along with the
Country Music Industry, that Conway needed his place in
the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The C.T. Fan Club is proud to
have been instrumental in the beginning for Conway
Twitty's induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame,
which took place on September 22, 1999 at the Country
Music Awards Show.
